Writing Competition and Un-Agented Story Submission Details

Are you an aspiring author? Do you have a manuscript waiting to be read? To be published?

Two events may be of interest to you:
  1. America's Next Author contest
  2. Harper Voyager call for Sci-Fi submissions.
America's Next Author contest is sponsored by ebookmall.com. Authors can submit one entry in any genre between September 12, 2012 and November 27, 2012. Grand prize is $5,000! Two additional prizes of $500 will also be awarded. See the web site for information on terms and rules for the contest.

Inspired by American Idol, author's stories will be voted on by readers and judges. Elimination rounds begin in October. Good luck!

Harper Voyager, HarperCollins' science fiction and fantasy imprint will accept un-agented manuscripts from October 1 through October 14, 2012.. This opportunity gives aspiring authors the chance to have their manuscripts read by the folks at Harper Voyager.  Voyager is looking for adult and young adult submissions "in the epic fantasy, science fiction, urban fantasy, horror, dystopia and supernatural genres." See their web site for submission details, rules and terms.

Best wishes writers!

Please let us know if you enter a story!

Travels with Pierre: He's Published!

Pierre Thomure is the adorable traveling teddy bear of Karen Thomure of Lowell, Michigan. He was the inspiration of Karen's first book: Travels with Pierre: Basque France. Pierre tells the tale of his adventures in quaint villages and historic sites in Basque France.

Karen created the page layouts using her original mixed media artwork. Vibrant water color scenes combine with sketches, drawings, and a few photographs of the region to make beautiful pages. Readers can visit the region alongside Pierre.

Karen's book is available in Lowell, currently. You can read an earlier post detailing Karen's journey to print here.

Future Travels With Pierre are in the works. Have your maps handy and stay tuned!
